These are some of the programs that I have found helpful while working with assistive technology.

 Actual Window Manager - program gives you exact control over sizing and where windows appear.

AutoHotKey - allows you to set up custom shortcut keys.  The program is described in a PC Magazine article called "Program your own keyboard shortcuts".
